Race -
from Gary Jones |
Phil Sanderson and I made the long drive up to
Rowardennan for the Ben Lomond Fell race (9m 3192ft AM) and
were truly blessed with wonderful weather with it being a perfectly
calm summers day.
The route itself was a runnable rocky path
then onto open fell side, in essentially a 9 mile top and back
run and I have to say the descent was a very enjoyable dash
back down to the Lodge in Rowardennan. Both Phil and I had
really good runs and ended up in 5th (Phil) and 8th (me). Phil's
race was somewhat marred by an ankle injury midway on the descent,
which lost him 2nd place after an excellent ascent and descent
to that point. I was in 16th at the summit but was well pleased
with my descent passing 8 runners and was actually commended
by a few Carnethy/Lochaber runners on my descent which was
great. All in all, a worthwhile trip to Scotland.
