There were a pleasing number of runners for the twenty sixth running of this event. The rain of the past three days cleared in time to bring a clear sunny day with a light breeze. The conditions on the open fell were on the wet side which seemed to lead to slightly slower times for the leaders.

Newcomer to the area Hugh Aggleton finished first despite a slight detour in the closing stages of the race. Phil Sanderson was second home a couple of minutes later. David Armstrong was third back and the first of fifteen V50’s. Karen Robertson was fourth finisher, first lady and first lady vet. She brushed off the list of post-nominal initials saying she had really enjoyed the race this year as she had taken it easy for once.

The team prizes went to NFR men; David Armstrong, Nick Spencer and Chris Rowe and NFR ladies; Karen Robertson, Sue Mitchell and Susan Davies.

Many thanks once again to all who supported the race. Forest Enterprise, UPM Till Hill, North of Tyne SRT, Gareth and Jane Latcham at the Rose and Thistle, Pat Cooper (Course marshalling and results) Hilary Cooper (registration and time keeping) and Dave and Kerry Wiseman who acted as sweepers and cleared the course.

Proceeds to North of Tyne SRT.

I hope to see you all at Windy Gyle on Sunday 24th June. Start 10.30. Allow an extra twenty minutes for travel up the valley.
