BELLINGHAM SHOW FELL RACE – 4 miles and 600 feet of ascent

The day’s event was overshadowed by the sad news that long time race organizer Michael Shields had passed away earlier in the week. Notwithstanding this his son James ran as did a number of friends running under the banner of Team Shields. Our thoughts are with James and his family at this time.

Although the rain, which had tipped down all morning, abated by race time the going underfoot was distinctly soggy. The race was won by NFR’s Chris Winter, a minute and a half ahead of Teviotdale’s John Tullie. Tynedale’s Rachel Vincent was first lady home.

Other honourable mentions should go to Scott Gibson who had warmed up for the race that morning by running the fastest time for the 24 mile Cheviot Challenge and to Adam Griffin and Sebastian Fraser who keenly contested a somewhat impromptu Junior race.
