Congratulations to David Atkinson who finished
14th in this weekend's 95 mile West Highland Way Race. 97 of
the 127 starters managed to finish. David completed the course
from Glasgow to Fort William in 20 hours 30 mins.
Conditions were generally good for running: a very short and
pleasant night, a light breeze, hazy sunshine and a light wind
during the day. David started the race well, had an indifferent
middle section (for David) when his thighs "just locked" but
came storming back in the last 14 miles to gain 10 places and
leave the pacer he was allowed on the final sections (me) clinging
on as he sprinted into Fort William. David was supported all
day (and night) at the numerous checkpoints by his wife Valerie
who drove their famous camper van for 640 miles over the weekend.
