“Clear blue skies, sunshine and no wind greeted the runners on the 24th running of the Simonside Cairns Fell Race. Course conditions were as good as they get and 109 runners started and finished the race.
Current course record holder Nick Swinburn ran an incredible time of 1.12.51, knocking almost 2 mins off the record he set in 2006.
Gemma Bradley of Saltwell ran well to win the ladies race followed By 8 times previous winner Karen Robertson of NFR. Good packing by the youngsters of Durham Uni in 3rd, 4th and 5th gave them the mens team prize with NFR picking up the ladies team prize.” – Paul
