“Many congratulations to Ben Rowley on his successful BGR in a very speedy 20:45 (I think that’s correct) .

“Had a great evening in Weardale at the Saltwell Harriers Fell Race. Clear blue skies made for an excellent run across the moors. The paddle in the stream provided very welcome relief from the heat. Thanks to Saltwell Harriers for putting on such a well organised and enjoyable race. A good NFR turn out amongst the 100+ runners.” – Andy Russell

“Six NFRs turned out for DFR 10th Anniversary Cronkley Fell Race this year with Will Horsley storming along to win first place. Lee Bennett got third prize for Elswick. Running conditions were cool and the conditions were exceptionally dry underfoot – apart from the paddle across the river to reach the turnaround point! Thanks to the DFR organisers for a very enjoyable and well organised race and for providing each runner with a bottle of their Durham Brewery Anniversary Ale!” – Andy Russell
“Yet more success for John Telfer (aka Keswick John), who has just completed his fourth Ultra of the year – The 80km du Mont Blanc in the Chamonix Valley.
John describes this as his toughest ever day with three 4000 plus ft climbs and descents through snowfields and boulder strewn paths. John had to dig really deep to complete and finished in
19h 48m 275th out of 1,118 starters. Over half of the field did not complete the course making this a great achievement.” – Paul Appleby
A new course record for NFR Will Horsley. Karen Robertson continues to reign as first lady.

This was the third running of the Humbleton Fell Race and the weather has been kind to us every time. This year was about as hot as it gets in Northumberland and it made for sweaty work marking the course. A couple of heavy showers before the start freshened the air slightly but it was still a warm evening for racing. Continue reading
