Clay Bank West

Dave Johnson writes: “4 club members took part, David Johnson, Steph Scott, Jason Taylor and Lisa Taylor. The first two managed top half finishes. Steph was 4th lady (2nd V40), which I think was enough to make a winner in the NorthEast championships.” Results here

NECAA / NEHRA update

“Only one winner declared with one race to go (Lee Bennett has won the MV40 NEHRA title, well done Lee). All other categories are still open and it looks like the Men’s open title in particular could be a tasty contest with just one point separating 1st & 2nd place runners, with them also being 2-all on head-to-head contest, and the ever improving Bruce Crombie could still help decide standings. Last race of the 2013 NECAA & NEHRA championship is this Sunday at Clay Bank West.

scores after six races

Thanks, Will”

Andy Russell writes: ‘Greatly enjoyed Dexter’s training run this morning at Allen Banks.  A good turnout of NFRs and friends were led round the spectacular autumn colours of Allen Banks in unbroken sunshine.  We followed this-up with tea and cakes at the Garden Station. Many thanks to Dexter for a great morning

report from co-ordinator Will Horsley:

The 25th FRA British Fell Running Relay Championship, Llanberis, 20th Oct 2013.

We were six, including four veterans of the Hodgson relays just a fortnight earlier (Will, Dexter, Emma & Paul). Three of the team had never done the FRA relays before (Steve, Emma & John) and one had never even been to Wales (John). Well, what a welcome it was – rain and wind aplenty. Continue reading

Alwinton Show Fell Race

Mike Telfer writes: “‘Daft as a Brush’ are doing a good job of running it now. They have changed the finish so you no longer finish in the middle of the bog where it’s impossible for spectators to view the runners coming in!
The finish and start are now in the same place, pretty much where the old start was! I reckon it’s added 2-300m to the course length so maybe a minute or so on the time of an ‘average’ runner!! Anyway it was a good day and I’ve attached the results.”

Langdale Horseshoe: report

report from Dave Johnson:

12.10.13 Langdale Horseshoe Fell Race

If it’s the second Saturday in October, it must be the Langdale Fell race, it has been thus since I started running in 2007 and I have to say it is my favourite race. This is despite the fact that my last three attempts had been marred by injury or daft route finding errors. This meant that time I was more than usually determined to avoid any pitfalls and have a good run and beat my previous best time which I managed back in 2009. Continue reading
