02/10/11 Ian Hodgson Relay: John writes: "NFR finished 31st out of 68 teams at the Ian Hodgson Relay. It was a solid team performance, enjoyed by all, and capped by an excellent run by Will & Tom on the anchor leg. Borrowdale won by a country mile, with Keswick winning the Ladies Race."

25/09/11 Viking Chase: Jill writes: "Robyn and Rowan were in action again, trying their hand at an English Junior Championship counter race. In the seniors, Lee was 1st NFR home in 5th position in a quality field.Second for NFR was Mike Heggarty, followed by Karen who was 2nd woman. Next in was Chris Sanderson, Bernard, Steph, Andrew and Marie-Helene. Low cloud and damp, cool conditions prevailed making some of the descents on the stone flagged paths extremely treacherous."

05/09/11 Ben Nevis Race: John Tollitt writes: "An impressive turnout from NFR at the Ben Nevis Race on Saturday in less than perfect conditions with cloud shrouding the top half of the Ben and heavy rain showers making things both difficult and interesting. Finlay Wild of Lochaber won the men's race and Angela Mudge of Carnethy was the first lady home. I astonished myself by finishing in 2 hours 11 minutes and was followed by Billy Fraser, David Armstrong, Geoff Davis, Chris Rowe, Phil Green, James Charlton, David Johnson, Andrew Callcott and Susan Davis."


30/08/11 Lakeland 100 / 50: admirable performances from club members last month - Joe Faulkner and Chris Little amongst those who completed the 100+ miler, with a few others successfully completing the 50 miler too. Commiserations to those who had to pull out.

11/07/11 Durham Hewitts Round success: "Will Horsley completed the Durham Hewitts Round of 11 summits in Weardale and Teesdale on Sunday 10th July, solo and unsupported, covering the approx 47 miles in 10h 39m and lowering the previous record by 3.5 hours. This represented the culmination of over three month's work in training for the distance and recce'ing of the route. Off back to bed now!" - Will

31/05/11 Helvellyn and The Dodds: from Steph: "NFR did brilliantly in the Lakes again. Victories for both men and women's teams. Phil S (3rd) Karen (2nd) and Steph (3rd) up at the sharp end. Dexter was 1st V50. Karen and Steph 1st and 2nd V40, Sue Davis 2nd V50. NFR men had loads of teams with loads of good results and a constant trickle of purple vests throughout the field. A good day with lots of cake to finish off with in the cricket club!"

"A massive turn out at this perennial favourite in very hot April weather, with NFR fielding a huge and talented pack. Charlie, Gaz, both men Sanderson, Gareth, Stevie, Dexter, John T x2, Chris, new John, New Phil, Geoff, Old Phil (me), DJ, Trev, Dave B, and Ray. The ladies did well with Steph leading them in, Sue, Susan, Jill and Ruth all ran well. A great day out with 2600 ft of climbing and 12.7 miles run.

30/01/11 Pennine Bridleway Relay: "Well done to our first ever Pennine Bridleway Relay team who finished 60th out of 100+ teams. Top performers were Steph Scott and Katherine Davis, who came 44th on their leg and picked up five places - all the more impressive given that they were on a short leg and leg 4 out of 5 when it gets more difficult to gain places.
