It is with shock, deep sadness and a great sense of loss that I pass on the news of Geoff's tragic death. Not much detail other than he was found by walkers somewhere along the St Cuthbert's Way at the weekend. Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family.

Dry conditions underfoot were tempered by a headwind throughout (the vagaries of running from A to B) and of course, the final ascent up the ever unforgiving Trahenna Hill. However, when the finish is a brewery inner strength is never far away."

06/09/09 Ben Nevis: "The constant rain and a wind chill factor of -3 did not deter a quartet of NFRs from completing the Ben Nevis today. The race was easily won by Rob Jebb. Dave Armstrong led NFR home in 2 hrs 9, with Karen Robertson recording an excellent 2 hrs 14 in her race debut. John Telfer and Phil Green adopted the corinithian spirit of hill running and crossed the line together in around 2 hrs 40" - John Telfer.

02/09/09 From Will: Philip Sanderson - by crossing the line in first place at Bellingham on Saturday he not only won the race (and the associated prizes!) but also the MV40 Club Championship title, the NECAA Mens Open title, and the NEHRA MV40 title. And he has achieved that by taking maximum points in two of those championships.

Also of note, Gary Jones won the DFR series 2 race at Hamsterley. Keep it up lads!

07/06/09 Kielder Cross Border Relay Challenge: Will Horsley writes: "A predominantly NFR team of Gary Jones, Lee Bennett, Will Horsley and Paul Evans (see his report on Elvet Striders' website) won the Kielder Cross Border Relay Challenge today. Not sure of margin of victory but it was about 10 mins. Very enjoyable route which involved many undulations despite circumnavigating a lake. Gary was not around for the prizes as he left after his (fast) first leg to do the Yetholm Hill Race ... ". - Will.

New NFR Paul Redman has an excellent run. Paul Appleby was 2nd V40, Bernard Kivlehan takes first MV50, Geoff Davis 2nd V50 and Terry Hart first MV60. Claire Bagness of Wooler took the honours for the ladies with Susan Davis 2nd lady ... and Phil Green bumps into next-door-but-one neighbour near Cushat Law! "
